Lee Jasper BA (hons) has a wealth of experience that includes over 30 years as a leading campaigner for social justice and race equality. During this time he has established a range of leading black community & anti racist orgs. He enjoys a national and international profile. As the Mayor of London's Director for Policing and Equalities, Lee played a part in the roll out of Safer Neighbourhood crime reduction programmes & is regarded as having established national standards. He was responsible on behalf of the Mayor for the Metropolitan Police Service budget of £3.2 billion pounds & was the founder member & Chair of the world-renowned black community police partnership Operation Trident Independent Advisory Group focused on tackling gun crime. He is currently Chair of London Race and Criminal Justice Consortium and Co Chair of Black Activist Rising Against Cuts (BARAC).

Concerns over Progress on Race Equality

A group of charities have issued a strong critique of the UK government’s lack of action on race inequality, which will be presented to the United Nations in Geneva next week. The group’s concerns, outlined in a report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, criticize the government’s record to date on the issue.
