Every year hundereds of people approach us for help. Often they feel they have been unfairly treated. This can be at work, on a school or college course or using a council service or in a shop. We provide advice face to face or on the telphone. Here are some stories of people that we have helped.

Advice Story 1

Sarida's story

 
Sarida was made redundant from her employer in the hospitality industry from the position of Supervisor. In the previous weeks she had experienced bullying and insults by her new manager. At one time her manager said in front of herhands1 customers “If you were my dog, I’d have you put down”. After receiving her redundancy notice she saw that her position was being advertised by her employer. She asked a friend who used to work with her what to do.  Her friend encouraged her to approach the Citizens Advice Bureau, who referred her the Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council.

Abdul's story

Abdul had been working for his employers for the past ten years. He went oversePhoto-of-Abdul's-handsas on holiday and whilst away fell ill and needed hospital treatment as a result of his diabetes. His wife contacted his employers and let them know that he could not come into work as a result of his illness. However despite this on his return home he found out that he had been dismissed as a result of failing to return to work following his agreed annual leave from work.
